About
Ambrosia
It
was
a dark and stormy night. . . Vancouverites hid cowardly in their
cellars, knowing that if they were to brave the torrential downpour,
they would risk being disappointed by another uneventful night
and subsequently have to trudge home in the rain. An inevitable
wave of loneliness followed: couples sat in silence while eating
leftovers from the last sunny evening, and singles devoured
packages of microwave Kraft Dinner. Another night would pass
without introductions, flirtations, witty banter, or even a
taro card reading.
Nights like these got ex-catering guru Maureen Goulet's
wheels turning. What Vancouver needed was not another restaurant
where the atmosphere is painted on the wall, but a dynamic and
spontaneous series of occassions where singles could meet, couples
could mingle, and good food could be consumed. Chefs would entertain,
psychics would mesmerize, and Cupid would shoot rapid bursts
of arrows while blindfolded.
The brainchild of Maureen's thinking is Ambrosia Adventures
in Cooking--a group of creative event planners wanting nothing
more than to redefine Vancouver's culinary nightlife and render
powerless the dark and stormy nights of lore.
